I wanted something fun to do with friends during a night out—something you could play across different locations or on one device to try and beat your last score. Instead of focusing too much on traditional BINGO, I looked into how social games keep things light, competitive, and engaging.I explored party games, mobile challenges, and apps like Heads Up! and HouseParty that use features like timers, images, and simple interactions to create fast-paced fun. This helped me shape a vibe that’s easy to jump into, playful with friends, and perfect for making memories while out and about.

I started brainstorming ideas that would fit the assignment while also having real-world appeal. That’s when I landed on Bar Crawl Bingo: an interactive BINGO card where each square represents an activity you might do on a night out. I sketched wireframes and flowcharts by hand to map out how a user would move through the app—from selecting a tile and snapping a photo to mark it as complete, to receiving fun feedback through animations or color changes.The app can be played solo or with friends in multiplayer mode. One key feature I designed was a visual celebration when someone wins: once you or a friend gets a BINGO, the screen shifts to a new color to signal the win, making it clear and exciting that someone hit their goal. This mix of friendly competition and real-world interaction adds to the fun, whether you're playing alone or as a group.

Once my sketches felt solid, I moved into Figma to build low-fidelity wireframes with real text, focusing on clear functionality and smooth user flow. After that, I applied a playful visual style using a light blue theme with yellow and purple accents to keep things fun and vibrant. The design features rounded elements and easy to read typography.

Designing Bar Crawl Bingo reminded me that digital tools can enhance—not replace—real-life interactions. I focused on building features that would add value to a night out without feeling intrusive. From selecting activities to celebrating wins, each interaction was designed with social ease in mind.
Balance of Form & Function
Choosing a light blue theme with vibrant accents of yellow and purple created a playful tone that didn’t sacrifice usability. Through thoughtful layout, rounded elements, and clear feedback cues, I learned how to blend aesthetics with clarity to keep users engaged.

Allowing both solo and multiplayer modes helped me think through multiple use cases. Whether someone wants to challenge themselves or compete with friends, the app adapts to different group sizes and play styles. Designing for flexibility added complexity, but it also made the product more inclusive.

One of my favorite additions was the ability to save photos and revisit past BINGOs. This created a more meaningful connection between the app and its users, turning it into more than just a game—it became a way to capture memories from nights out.
